My Top 5 FAQs

I have had a lot of enquiries over the last 7 years and I get asked these same questions over and over. Are you curious about what my top 5 FAQs are? Here you go!

My Top 5 FAQs

When should I book my newborn photoshoot? How does it work?

No one really knows when baby will arrive so we always book your photoshoot on your due date and move it from there. I do not do posed newborn photography so I have a little more flexibility in when we book your session.

When should I book my maternity shoot?

The best time to book your shoot in general is 28-32 weeks when you are big enough that your bump is visible but not so big that you have trouble moving. Particularly in the last two weeks most women start to retain a lot of water. HOWEVER, all bumps are different. In addition, sometimes it's better to get it done than make sure it's the perfect time. I've photographed women anywhere from 20 weeks up until the day before a planned c-section. I'm pretty sure if you asked those women none of them would regret getting photos done.

Are families included in newborn and maternity shoots?

The quick response is yes!

I'm not sure if I should do the shoot in the studio or in my home.

This is really a personal choice. I always tell families to look at my portfolio and see if they resonate more with the in-home or studio photos. After that it's really up to them. Studio photos tend to be a bit cleaner and minimal. In-home photos have the element of story telling. By taking photos in your own home you naturally incorporate your life - whether it's the nursery, reading books or just playing with toys. The studio shoot tends to also be shorter than in-home shoots because I already know my lighting. With in-home shoots I have to figure out lighting and plan my shoot. But it just means your family can hang out a bit more in their own home environment. I love both.

I don't know what to wear! Will you help me?

Every type of shoot I offer from newborn to boudoir to headshots receives this question. And the big answer is YES! I realized very early on that this was a pain point for many families and women. This is why I work with a local stylist that helps you 1:1 to plan your wardrobe. And yes, since working with her I have noticed my clients come in more relaxed and confident and the photos look just that much better.

Bonus FAQ

Is there parking at the studio?

Yes! But it is paid parking on the weekdays - $6 cash. Weekends are free.

I hope this helped with a question you may have had. If you have any others don't hesitate to get in touch!
