FAQs Lately

I am very lucky to get a lot of enquiries and with those come a lot of questions! Here are the latest questions I've been asked as a family photographer and headshot photographer.

Do you provide RAW images?

Oooh - it had been a while since I received this question and then I got two people in a row. The short answer is no, and this is pretty industry standard. First off RAW photos are images which come straight off the camera with a .crw file name. You can only view these images using special software and they are very flat. If you are shooting raw images the point is that you are capturing the most data possible so that when you edit them the image is not destructed. You can also shoot .jpgs which are much smaller, but the image can be destroyed a little with each edit (I know that's not the technical term but you get the idea).

My edits are part of my process just like posing. RAWs are the unfinished works of art. Imagine asking a painter for the sketches of their painting so you can paint over later in case you don't like the way the artist painted. I know people don't mean it this way (or I hope not) but it's always a little jarring to be asked.

What's the difference between a 30 and 60 minute headshot?

With a 60 minute you'll get more variety in poses & wardrobe plus more images. With a 30 minute you'll have a shorter time in each outfit (if you choose two) and less poses. If I needed images to fill out a website or social media I'd get the 60. Just need options for a headshot? Choose the 30.

What exactly does Amanda do?

Amanda is the local stylist I work with that will bring your outfits to the next level. She can assist with just giving the final OK, suggesting other options or help with accessorizing. She's literally worked with hundreds of families so she knows the ins and outs.

I am wondering if I should do an outdoor session or studio?

For context, we are in January and it is currently -25. Outdoor sessions are cute but kids are very bundled - we don't see that much of their faces. If you just want to capture winter (I see you Tremblant tourists!) cool. If you want a family shoot wait until it warms up a little or choose studio.

When is your next weekend availability.

February 7th is full, I maybe have room for one more session Feb 8th. After that you are looking at March.

How many outfits should we choose for our newborn?

I would borrow say 5-8 outfits, and then narrow it down to three or 2 + a naked diaper pose. We often only get to two outfits so wear by priority.

Is it too early to book for spring?

No - and if you need a weekend I suggest you do!

Do you do outdoor minis?

Yes - if you are interested please complete this form.

That is all the questions I can think of off the top of my head. Do you have any questions for me?
