You feel nervous just thinking about it, it's so overwhelming you want to put it off for another year, and you can't imagine anything worse. No it's not scheduling a pap smear - it's…. your HEADSHOT.
Headshot FAQs
After 10 years in business, I definitely see the same questions asked over and over again. I thought it would be fun to do a breakdown of the questions I get for each segment I photograph. If you have a specific question don't hesitate to reach out - I've heard them ALLL….
I am so nervous and anxious.
I'm sorry. I'm going to be a terrible client.
I'm going to be real. Nearly every enquiry writes me this.
- If you think you are going to look horrible in your photos please look at my portfolio - those smiling, relaxed faces? Those seeming pros? They all said the same thing.
- I don't photograph models. I photograph real people with your same fears and I can say with hand on heart - I got you. I will do every pose before hand, ask you to copy me and then direct you even more. I'm bossy and direct.
- My communication is clear and effective. I will prep you so you know exactly what will happen when. I'll even remind you about your cat hair.
- Wardrobe advice is included, so no need to sweat my pet. Amanda has worked with literally hundreds of headshot clients.
I want two headshots. What session do I need?
This is the most common request but I'll quickly walk you through your options.
15 minute session - You actually only want one simple headshot and one outfit. Usually people think they want this but when they thing about they go for this…
30 minute session - This is the most popular session. You get two outfit changes, plus you have time to get into it and try a few different things. It comes with 2 digital images.
60 minute session - I recommend this for people who want 3 outfit changes or who want a few more digital images.

Where do sessions take place?
They take place at the studio I work with in Westmount. You have a choice of 4 different rooms (you pick one room and photograph exclusively in that room).
Do I need hair and makeup?
I always recommend hair and makeup. A hair and makeup artist can come on site and do touch ups, or you can go to a salon in the area (I can offer recommendations) or your local salon. If you prefer to do it yourself, take it up a notch as the camera washes you out.
How far in advance should I book?
I like two weeks, but I've had people book 2 months in advance and 2 days in advance. Just keep in mind that a shorter lead time provides less time to pull together your look and work with Amanda, and your favourite studio room may be booked.

Do you do men's Headshots?
Yes, I don't really show many on my portfolio but I have definitely photographed many men.
