Meaningful Gifts for Father’s Day

I recently attended an Alcove event here in Montreal that featured Byron and Dexter Peart, twin brothers who also co-founded Want Les Essentials. I’m sure many of you are familiar with the store here in Westmount and the brand.  The men were both gentleman and super friendly.  In fact I was a bit surprised at how interested they were to hear about each one of us.

I had the chance to speak to both Byron and Dexter at considerable length and we talked about photography and family photography.  Their philosophy is that everything in your life should beautiful, intelligent, purposeful and useful.  They really took the time to talk to me about my business and why they also felt that family photography was important.

Family Photography NDGByron told me a story about his father which really stuck with me.  He mentioned that the only thing his father wants, is a picture of his own father.  That’s it.  He just wants to look at one photo of his own father.  I could see it was painful for Byron that this one thing his father so very wanted was not possible for him to provide.  For me it really drove home the point that family photography is important.  Not just for now, or ten years from now but many many years from now.

And I know I talk a lot about getting mom in the photos, but getting dad in the photos is important too.  For both dad to see his love for his children reflected back at him, and for his own kids to look at for years to come.

And listen, I know that dad’s are by far the most resistant to photo sessions.  I hear you.  But I promise that after nearly every session it’s the dad that says to me how enjoyable and easy the session was.

So if you are wondering whether family photos are important, the answer is YES.  Capture those moments, capture that love, capture it all!

If you want a session with me, contact me!  I also provide beautiful gift certificates if you’d like to give a session or an amount towards a session as a gift.
